BTT: Treat & Generosity

fourzoasBooking Through Thursday features a double shot today; I think one of these was meant for next week, but I'll do them both now. They actually go together.
First, Treat:
Hmm. The best book I ever bought for myself? I have no idea. I've been thinking about this for a while now, and I can think of books I've enjoyed. The Quincunx* comes to mind, for some reason, and I realize that I haven't actually seen my copy of it in years and suddenly have an inexplicable desire to locate it and read it again. But I don't know that I'd say that qualifies it as the best book I've ever bought for myself.
In fact, I've bought so many books that I've liked and loved that I think this question is impossible to answer. So I won't. Interesting.
And Generosity:
Yes, I do give books as gifts, but only to people who I feel will really enjoy that particular book. If I don't know what book to purchase, I give them the means to purchase books, which is actually preferable to me. I'd rather have the gift card than the book UNLESS the book is some rare, one of a kind, special edition of something the giver knows I'd love or it's on my amazon Wish List.
*Of course, I'm looking at my as-yet-unread copy of Palliser's The Unburied, which I purchased because I enjoyed The Quincunx so much. Perhaps I should just read it instead.

Yes, I do give books as gifts, but only to people who I feel will really enjoy that particular book. If I don't know what book to purchase, I give them the means to purchase books, which is actually preferable to me.
